Welcome to a new month, and happy 4th of July for those in America. I've been super busy so I delayed this post a bit so that I can have some art to accompany all of my convention-related updates! So all the content here has pretty much been added over the course of the past month.

New Art

Lavinia 2 is finally done!! I really regret not being able to put out more Iteration work ever since my last one "ANGEL". I have a lot in progress but convention preparation and some other random big licensing opportunities have distracted me a lot. This one is meant to be a pairing with "Lavinia" from 2022:

I really did plan to do both of these paintings one after another, but I guess back then I was really caught up in other stuff. I'm not totally sold on the end result on Lavinia 2 but after 2 months of delaying finishing it, I'm just ready to move on LOL.

Not much to say for this one except that I did it right after no. 2 a while ago. Also my printer broke for a bit but I managed to get it replaced under warranty. Though the warranty expires in July so pray that it either breaks really fast before then or doesn't break at all lol.

I just looked out the window and saw these kinds of brightly-lit clouds. I kinda thought it would be nice to draw something related to what I actually see lol. 2 days ago there was a crazy red sky situation that I'll probably draw sometime as well. And lightning. Being from California previously and now living in Wisconsin, weather sure gets crazy here actually. It's like we got everything here - tornadoes, lightning, snow, hurricanes, hot/humid early summers, less hot/humid late summers, and the most stereotypical blue skies with cute white clouds on other days...

I can't believe I'm actually doing these somewhat consistently xD. A long time ago I thought to myself that I'd really have an easy time if I made this my main work. Not that it's my intention, but I just think these days with all the thinking I'm doing with conventions and stuff, it's just easy for me to spend an hour to plop one of these down without much thinking. I'm definitely planning to turn them into bookmarks and postcards, as soon as I figure out where to get them printed. (Pigment prints from my printer are a bit delicate and don't do well with things that get handled a lot like cards)

I really do need to get Lavinia 2 done by the end of this month though. It's been way too long!! I just get really wrapped up whenever I decide to do something big and new, like the conventions, and I have a hard time focusing on my regular work. Most of my organizational materials & crafting stuff that I need to build most of what I need should come in this week (with the exception of drapes) so I'm hoping I can just finished with that and return to doing my actual paintings.

I also had this random grayscale "noir inspired" commission last week too:

It was a quick personal commission for the client who did the Mythos Kickstarter. Their TTRPG character from a noir-inspired campaign.

Conventions

I've been applying for a few other cons! Here is my current list of conventions I've been accepted for, or that I am applying for / want to go so far

ColossalCon North - Wisconsin Dells, WI | Nov 22-24 (waiting for app decision)
MightyCon - Madison, WI | Dec 1
Anime Milwaukee (AMKE) - Milwaukee, WI | Mar 07-09 (application in process)

I'm just starting out in Wisconsin more or less since it's cheaper, but I do have plans to go to California and New York/DC if it turns out well! Anime Central and Fan Expo Chicago, Anime Expo and Comic Con in California, and Otakon in DC are on my long-term list/end goal list!

It's a little hard realizing that I have to pay all the booth and hotel fees like right now, and then wait till the actual day to make it back. So I'm at least $1000 deep in just registrations alone xD

I've just received the majority of my booth display materials, with the exception of banners now. I need to make a mock photo to decide what kinds of banners I would like, as I'm not sure if I'll need to hang my prints on the back, or if I can have a nice fancy banner instead. Hopefully a small mock photo is coming this week! Though I really need to clean up my place too xD

Final Notes

It seems like I'm sending these emails monthly even though I intended to make it a casual send whenever I made something. I thought mainly it's because I tend to finish all my art at the end of the month. Things have been weird recently though :P

I will probably go ahead and release my new website sometime in the next month or so. I might also come up with a logo I can use for my convention table, website, and other general stuff where using my profile picture is impractical.

All of the art here with the exception of the noir commission is available for digital download on my Gumroad store! Lavinia 2 is also available as a Small (8x12) or Medium (12x18) print in my website store.
